Resurrection
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive (1 Cor. 15:20-22).
The Resurrection changes everything!
By a man has come the resurrection of the dead. This is an incomprehensibly wonderful truth! Jesus, and Jesus alone, gives us the hope of life despite the certainty of death!
When thinking about the resurrection of the dead, I can’t help but think of my father who passed away two years ago. What could I say if it wasn’t for this hope of Jesus? I know this is felt by many of you as well; there’s a longing to see loved ones who’ve passed on. If it wasn’t for the resurrection, there would be no hope! “But in fact,” Jesus is alive! And those who’ve received Him by faith will live forever! Praise God!
In this way the Resurrection changes everything. In our sins, and in an unrepentant and unregenerate state, man is destined for nothing but eternal destruction. But in this hope of Jesus, we’re restored to life forevermore! What an incomprehensible contrast! Jesus alone can take us from death to life, from hopeless to joyful, from bondage to victory!
As the Easter season is upon us, I want to remind you to savor the fact that even death couldn’t contain our God. As He calls you to faith in His Son, by His Spirit through His Word, be reminded that His resurrection changes everything. Though you were destined to die; in Jesus, you will live! It all hinges on the bloodied cross and the empty tomb.
Praise God that Jesus “has in fact been raised from the dead!”
In Christ,
Pastor Alex
