Pastor Alex Woodworth

September 5, 2025 By Robin Lloyd Leave a Comment

I’m from Aurora, Illinois, located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Upon graduation from high school and community college, I moved up to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota and graduated in the spring of 2014. The Lord Jesus really took hold of my heart at the end of my time in college as I rediscovered the gracious work Christ on the cross revealed through His Word. After graduating from the U. of M., I was hungry for more. I attended FLBC (then AFLBS) that next fall. The God of all grace continued to show just how far He goes to win and keep sinners by His Spirit through His Word! Two years in the Word was life changing, but it felt like it was only the beginning.

After graduating from AFLBS, I moved to Fargo for a year to work and enjoy the company of Bible college friends. I began dating a former Bible college classmate (and North Dakota girl) who was studying at NDSU. Rachel and I were married in 2018 at the University of Northwestern’s chapel in Roseville, MN. Rachel is a veterinary technician and loves her work!

After a year of settling into marriage, I began seminary at the Free Lutheran seminary in the fall of 2019. We spent three years on campus before a year of internship at Emmaus Lutheran in Bloomington, MN. Upon graduation, I accepted a call near my hometown to serve at Helmar Lutheran in Newark, Il., as a family pastor. Along the way, the Lord has blessed us with two children: Brooks (2.5 years old) and Ava June – “A.J.” (6 months old). As the Scriptures say, children really are a gift. This leads to today, I’m excited to be back up north with an opportunity to grow in the Lord and grow in pastoral ministry among you.

I enjoy playing basketball, softball, and running (marathons!) I’ve run four marathons and hope to get back into it. I’m also a die-hard, Super Bowl Champion, Philadelphia Eagles fan. It’s random, but it’s real; I enjoy watching football and enjoy pretty much all sports. Rachel and I are honored to be here and look forward to what the Lord has in store for Ebenezer and for our family! Looking forward to getting to know you.

God is good.

Alex
